Our Process

  • Step 1: Initial Meeting

    During our initial meeting, we will discuss several key components to help us understand your wants and needs in a custom home. These will primarily include budget, desired square footage, location, and style of home. We will also discuss timeframe of beginning to work with you & our preferred architects, presuming you do not already have a plan.

  • Step 2: Construction Services Agreement

    We require clients to sign a Pre-Construction Services Agreement in order to move forward in the building process with Cornerstone. This agreement and the associated fee ensures both parties are protected during this stage of the build. It allows our time throughout the design to be compensated, while also ensuring the client retains rights to use the custom set of design drawings.

  • Step 3: Pre-Shopping & Budgeting

    Before any physical construction begins, we believe in ensuring we have a full scope of expectations of the project. During our Pre-Shopping process, we will meet to thoroughly discuss the desired finish-out for your home. This allows us to communicate efficiently with our subcontractors to build as accurate of a budget as possible. The Pre-Shopping process helps ensure we have as minimal of surprise fiscal factors upfront, allows us to build our relationship further, and gives us further insight to the direction your project will take stylistically.

  • Step 4: Break Ground

    After you have secured your interim construction financing, it's time to break ground! Throughout the construction process, we will collaborate and communicate very often. This will include weekly updates stating what progress we have scheduled with subcontractors to make that week, steps that are upcoming, and decisions on the horizon for you to be thinking about. As we your home progresses, you will be able to see your dreams come to life & feel how rewarding the construction process led by Cornerstone is!

  • Step 5: Closing & Mortgage Set-Up

    Near the end of your construction process, we will be able to communicate an estimated closing timeframe. This will allow you to begin securing your permanent mortgage financing with the lender of your choosing.

  • Step 6: Warranty

    All of our homes are inspected either by the local city officials or by a 3rd party inspection company. This allows us to offer you an incredible One Year Workmanship Warranty, Two Year Mechanical Warranty and a Ten Year Structural Warranty on all of our homes.

We’re often asked…

  • As we are a custom builder, we do not have a set price per square foot. There is an abundance of factors that contribute to a project's overall cost per square foot. Because no two homes we build are identical, we suggest checking out our process to learn more about how we price your home with it's specific requirements and desired finish-out. 

  • We build homes in Amarillo, Texas, as well as Canyon, Bushland and the surrounding Amarillo area.

  • 90% of the projects we complete is custom built and tailored to our clients. On occasion, we do offer a speculative home. 

  • Because we are a fully custom home builder, we do not keep a model home. On occasion, we might have a short window to see a recently completed home before our client moves in. We have found through pictures and client testimonials, prospective clients have been able to get an accurate and positive feel for the quality of our work. 

  • The size and desired finish out of your project will largely determine the overall timeline. Typically, it takes approximately 6 months for 2,500 square feet up to 12 months for 5,000 square feet homes.
